20 Minute Blog Journal #2

The place I miss the most is where my father grew up: Ipazoltic, Jalisco or El Ipa for short. El Ipa is a small ranch from the municipio of San Martin de Hidalgo, Jalisco. The ranch’s population is very low, so everyone basically knows everyone. The folks there are very kind, friendly, and helpful. There is a lot of respect there for people— for humanity, which is what I probably miss the most, no judgment. Some other things I miss are the rocky roads, green scenery, animals, food, my grandparents house, and just the culture overall. I miss my grandparents house terribly. To get to my grandparents house, one must climb up a small hill located right after their red gate. When climbing up the small hill, one can see all of the green scenery along with the milpa ready to grow, the beautiful flowers blossoming, and some guamuchiles as well as the sirwelas on the trees with a few having already fell to the ground. Once you enter another gate, but this one white, we are first introduced to my grandfathers driveway leading up to his house. Before entering my grandparents home, on the right side we can see their fireplace and wood stacked up ready to be used. Their fireplace was used to cook, warm up fresh made maíz tortillas, or warm up the water for us to bathe.
